Francis Ngannou ups the stakes ahead of his next fight
Francis Ngannou will take part in a seemingly straightforward comeback bout on Saturday night.
Philipe Lins is his opponent. The 40-year-old Brazilian fighter is a big underdog because he hasn’t fought in over two years and hasn’t recorded a win at heavyweight since 2018.
Still, Ngannou believes that the way he beats Lins will remind everyone he is MMA’s best heavyweight.
On Wednesday, a reporter asked Ngannou, “How excited are you to remind everybody that you are the lineal heavyweight champion of the world?”
“I’m very excited about that,” the former UFC heavyweight titleholder replied.
“I’ve been preparing myself for that. Now we are ready.
“We are just three days away from going out there and showcasing that.”
Francis Ngannou reacts to Jon Jones attending his fight
Jon Jones has joined the Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano event and will be cageside for Francis Ngannou’s return to the cage.
The former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion is an analyst for Netflix’s first MMA event.
“It’s going to be interesting to see Jon Jones in the same arena watching,” Ngannou admitted.
“It’s very interesting to see how it’s going to be.
“We’ll see. It’ll be great.”
Jones is one of the elite MMA heavyweights that Ngannou hopes to prove he’s better than this weekend.
Even if he wins, fans will continue to call for Ngannou to settle the debate by squaring off against Jones.
