Two teams in desperate need of a win collide when the LA Sparks visit the Phoenix Mercury at the Mortgage Matchup Center tonight.
Both sides are reeling, having lost three of four, with each coming off a home loss to the expansion Toronto Tempo.
With Phoenix set to play seven of its next eight on the road, my Sparks vs. Mercury predictions have them ending their four-game homestand on a positive note.

Sparks vs Mercury best bet: Mercury -2.5 (-110)
The Los Angeles Sparks’ 106-96 loss to Toronto featured the most points they’ve given up this season. It’s a recurring trend for the Sparks, who are last in the WNBA in points allowed at 98.3.
Last season, the Phoenix Mercury took three of four in the season series while shooting 42% or worse in three of those games.
That number should get a boost in matchup 1 of 2026: L.A. is allowing teams to shoot a WNBA-worst 51% from the field so far this year.
The Mercury are 6-2-0 against the spread with wins in seven of the last eight against LA, and that trend should continue tonight.

She’s averaged 10.4 assists against L.A. in her last 10 games, picking up at least nine dimes six times.
Kelsey Plum leads the league in scoring at 26.8 points per game on a crisp 59.4% shooting and has a gettable line of 20.5 points against Phoenix.
The Mercury aren’t at their defensive best, and Plum has also not scored less than 25 points in a game this season.
