The UFC Vegas 118 main event put Belal Muhammad’s name into the history books.

Saturday night marked another difficult outing inside the Octagon for the former UFC welterweight champion, as he fell to a third straight loss.

Following setbacks against Jack Della Maddalena and Ian Machado Garry in 2025, Muhammad was beaten by Gabriel Bonfim in his attempt to bounce back on June 6.

The result was not even close, with Muhammad losing every round on the scorecards. However, being outstruck for 25 minutes did not stop ‘Remember the Name’ from reaching the top of a striking leaderboard.

Belal Muhammad has landed the most significant strikes in UFC welterweight history

The UFC Vegas 118 main event marked Muhammad’s 22nd fight in MMA’s leading promotion.

The Palestinian is known for his wrestling game, which helped Muhammad beat Leon Edwards to become champion in 2024 amid an 11-fight unbeaten run.

But the 37-year-old has not always shied away from stand-up exchanges, and that has allowed him to rack up the strikes during his UFC career.

He entered the Bonfim fight second on the list of most significant strikes landed in UFC welterweight history, behind only veteran Neil Magny.

Muhammad needed to land 78 at UFC Vegas 118 to surpass ‘The Haitian Sensation’. He connected with 86, setting the new record at 1,515 total significant strikes.

That won’t be any consolation for Muhammad, whose loss to the No. 11-ranked contender in the welterweight division will push him far from the title picture in Tuesday’s rankings update.

As the first losing skid of his career continues, ‘Remember the Name’ will need to go back to the drawing board and find a way to have his hand raised again.
