Former UFC champion posts and deletes Freedom 250 criticism that Conor McGregor also raised

UFC Freedom 250 had a lot of big names in attendance but not all of them were mixed martial artists.

Following the event, Joe Rogan called June 14 the ‘greatest night in combat sports history’ when immediately reflecting on what he’d just seen.

The sheer spectacle of the event at the White House was hard to deny, especially after it ended with Justin Gaethje producing another legendary performance.

However, Jamahal Hill wasn’t the only one who pointed out how it was only the UFC fighters on the card that seemed to receive some spotlight.

Various high-profile names were in attendance for UFC Freedom 250, from Tyson Fury to Mark Zuckerberg to Triple H.

It wasn’t surprising to see many of these guests due to the connection they already share with MMA’s leading promotion.

What the broadcast didn’t highlight is how many of the (approximately) 4,300 seats were occupied by current members of the UFC roster.

Former light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill called this out in an X post that has since been deleted, writing, “Crazy seeing all these athletes at the fights and not one UFC fighter that’s not fighting is there!!! All I wanna say is that they don’t really care about us!!”

Conor McGregor also referenced this in various posts, noting how strange it was to see “not one MMA legend at the fights”.

“The platforming of our athletes within the business was not capitalised on enough in my opinion,” McGregor added in a different X post. “I don’t know who the f— these guys are that have never fought MMA yet were visibly all over the show.”

The UFC did have a significant number of fighters participating at the fan events at the Ellipse, though it isn’t clear whether those same athletes were then able to get a seat near the Octagon.

Instagram posts from the likes of Jim Miller and Cub Swanson, as two examples, showed that there were UFC fighters in attendance for the fights themselves in front of the White House.

However, they weren’t given a spotlight during the broadcast, while notable names from the WWE, Zuffa Boxing, and various UFC partners were.
