Alex Pereira isn’t willing to let his loss to Ciryl Gane go without appeal.
On Sunday night in the UFC Freedom 250 co-main event, Alex Pereira was handed just his second loss by knockout since joining the premier MMA promotion at the hands of Ciryl Gane.
The Frenchman scored the finish in round two after dropping ‘Poatan’ with a stiff jab, followed up by a flurry of huge shots while Pereira was on the ground.
However, in his first statement since his disappointing loss, the Brazilian has revealed his anger, calling for Herb Dean to be legally punished.
Pereira calls for immediate rematch after calling Herb Dean a ‘coward’
Gane came into his interim title fight under watchful eyes after his last fight against Tom Aspinall was ended early because of the Frenchman’s continuous eye pokes.
And after garnering a reputation for being a ‘dirty fighter’, ‘Bon Gamin’ was accused of landing several illegal shots to the back of Pereira’s head during the final flurry, by the aforementioned Aspinall.
Because of that and the nature of the finish, the former light heavyweight champion has told the UFC that he wants an immediate rematch against Gane.
“After the event we were in the hotel and I got a call, we’ve already spoken,” Pereira said in a video on his YouTube channel.
“The next step, I explained to them, I spoke to them about the illegal shots and it was a fight that was good and the tendency to grow the show it was starting up, I said the right thing is an immediate rematch.
“I spoke to the organization and they asked for some time to get an answer because so much was happening, the event had just happened, they are gonna see what they are gonna do.
“I’m gonna wait a bit but very soon we will have an answer,” he continued.

Despite ‘Poatan’s’ request, though, Gane is campaigning for a title unification fight against Aspinall in September at the recently announced event in Paris.
That is something that Aspinall is willing to do, as he has revealed he is back in training following his numerous eye surgeries.
