Tonight’s UFC Vegas 119 event was headlined by a highly anticipated men’s flyweight rematch featuring Manel Kape taking on Kyoji Horiguchi.

Kape (23-7 MMA) and Horiguchi (36-6 MMA) were competing for a second time this evening in Las Vegas. The current flyweight contenders had originally met back on New Years Eve in 2017 under the RIZIN banner, with ‘The Typhoon’ emerging victorious by way of third-round submission (arm-triangle choke).

Manel Kape had entered tonight’s rematch sporting a three-fight winning streak, with all three of those most recent Octagon victories coming by way of KO / TKO. ‘Starboy’ was most previously seen in action this past December, where he scored a first-round knockout victory over former title challenger Brandon Royval (see that here).

Meanwhile, Kyoji Horiguchi came into this evening’s contest boasting an eight-fight unbeaten streak, which includes five straight victories. The Japanese standout was most previously seen in action this past February, where he scored a unanimous decision win over Amir Albazi. Prior to that triumph, the 35-year-old was coming off a technical submission victory over Tagir Ulanbekov.

Tonight’s UFC Vegas 119 main event proved to be another thrilling battle between Kape and Horiguchi. Although, the Japanese standout got off to a quick start, it was ‘Starboy’ who closed the show with an abrupt finish in the third round of their highly anticipated rematch. Kape caught ‘The Gooch’ with a big punch and proceeded to floor Kyoji moments later with a series of quality shots. Once on the ground, Kape quickly forced a finish with some heavy ground and pound.
