Max Holloway plans to ‘drown’ Conor McGregor in UFC 329 rematch: “Mystic Max has arrived”

Max Holloway believes he will push Conor McGregor to the brink in their UFC 329 showdown.

Holloway and McGregor haven’t shared the Octagon since 2013, which was long before either man became icons in the sport of MMA. The “Notorious” one defeated “Blessed” via unanimous decision. Holloway would emerge as a fan favorite who reached elite championship status, while McGregor became the biggest star the sport has ever seen, capturing gold in two weight classes.

They will meet again inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 11. In a new video uploaded on his YouTube page, Holloway had some fun taking one of McGregor’s nicknames.

“‘Mystic Max’ has arrived,” Holloway said. “He’s taking my, ‘It is what it is,’ so I’m taking ‘Mystic Max.’”

When asked how he thinks the rematch will play out, Holloway said he plans to test McGregor’s limits.

“We drown him,” Holloway said. “We’re gonna give him an old Hawaii-style beating and drown him. We’re taking him to deep waters.”

Holloway is looking for a bounce back win following a disappointing outing against Charles Oliveira back in March. “Blessed” dropped a unanimous decision to “do Bronxs” as he never had an answer for his opponent’s grappling in their BMF title fight.

As for McGregor, he hasn’t competed since 2021. After recovering from a broken tibia and fibula during his third clash with Dustin Poirier, the Irishman was scheduled for a 2024 bout with Michael Chandler. The fight never came to fruition as McGregor suffered an injury.

McGregor recently told Ariel Helwani that he has one more fight left on his UFC deal after the Holloway rematch. He said that bout will have to wait until April 2027.

How long do you see the rematch between Max Holloway and Conor McGregor lasting for? Does it at least make it out of the opening frame? Give us your take in the comments below.
