Max Holloway thinks that Conor McGregor’s battle is with a much tougher opponent as he prepares for his first fight week in five years.
After breaking his leg in a brutal finish to his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier, McGregor has been out of action and unable to book a comeback. Now, it looks as though he truly will return in the main event of UFC 329 on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Since their fight in 2013, Holloway and McGregor have had very limited face-time. However, they did participate in a virtual face-off with Joe Rogan that aired during the UFC Freedom 250 event and left the commentator cackling.

Max Holloway says Conor McGregor is fighting the UFC, not him, in comeback
Over the years, Conor McGregor has not been quiet about wanting to fight again. For whatever reason, the UFC have struggled to get him a contract, aside from once in 2024 when he was due to face Michael Chandler but was forced out with a broken toe.
And Max Holloway seemed to notice that his rival’s tensions were more with the promotion than with him in their outlandish joint appearance with Joe Rogan. While appearing on the Freestylebender channel, Holloway was asked about the Irishman’s appearances in the media of late and gave an interesting take.
“With the Joe Rogan one, he kind of did attack me but I felt like he was beefing more with the UFC than beefing with me,” Holloway explained. “He had some language about me and at the end of the day I didn’t take too much from that.”
