The most dangerous quarterback in the NFL faces the league’s premier defense when the Bills battle the Vikings in Week 9. Jason Logan gives his early leans and NFL picks for Monday Night Football.

The Vikings took their first blemish of the season and don’t have long to linger on that loss before welcoming the Bills, fresh off a rout of snake-bitten Baltimore last Sunday, on Monday Night Football.
Minnesota is an underdog at U.S. Bank Stadium, and my Bills vs. Vikings prediction peels back the layers of both teams’ recent performances, searching for insights and edges to inform my NFL picks for MNF on Nov. 9.

Early Bills vs Vikings moneyline pick: Bills moneyline
This market opened as short as +2.5 for the host Minnesota Vikings but jumped through the key number of a field goal with early interest in the Buffalo Bills.
I’m not running to lay -3.5 with the road team, but I do see Buffalo walking the clearer path to victory, so I’ll lean to the visitors on the moneyline on Monday night.
As dominant as the Vikings defense has been, Bills quarterback Josh Allen presents a unique challenge for Brian Flores’ blitz-focused stop unit.
Minnesota has yet to face a QB who can move away from pressure, extend plays, and scramble like Allen. The Vikings’ QB competition so far has been primarily pocket passers.
Allen is one of the better QBs against the blitz, ranking No. 5 in PFF ratings, and is extremely dangerous as a runner when the heat comes. He’s also at his best against zone coverage, which is something Flores runs almost exclusively. Allen owns the No. 9 passer rating vs. zone heading into Week 9.
Minnesota has been elite in several key scenarios, like third-down defense and opponent touchdown rate inside the red zone. These are areas where Buffalo’s offense is especially strong, thanks to what Allen can do.
The Buffalo QB had success against Flores’ defenses during his tenure as head coach in Miami. I’m going to lean toward Allen and the Bills to win outright on Monday.

Early Bills vs Vikings total pick: Under 47.5
Both defenses do a great job pressuring the passer. Minnesota and Buffalo rank No. 1 and No. 2 in average pressure rate while also sitting among the leaders in QB hurries.
The Vikings are especially great at shortening their opponents’ attack, allowing few explosive plays and giving up the fourth-fewest air yards. They’re the toughest test Buffalo has faced on that side of the ball.
If the Bills are going to move the chains, it will be a mix of hard runs and short, quick completions, helping Allen avoid any damage from Minnesota’s blitz.
Offense has been the biggest bugaboo for the Vikes. Kyler Murray isn’t as dangerous against the blitz as his Buffalo counterpart, nor does Minnesota pose the same downfield threat, ranking among the least explosive passing games in the land.
That limits how much the Vikings can expose a Buffalo defense that gives up big plays. Minnesota is methodical when it does have the ball, chewing up the second-most average play clock per snap.
I like the Under 47.5 with this total on the high side of a key number on MNF.
