New Mexico St. vs. Gonzaga pick: Gonzaga -29.5
- Time: 5 p.m. ET
- TV: KHQ (locally), ESPN Unlimited
- Analyst: Geoff Clark
Top pick: Gonzaga -29.5
Geoff Clark is backing the Bulldogs to cover a massive spread against New Mexico State, trusting Gonzaga’s talent and size advantage over the Aggies. The Bulldogs opened their season with a six-point win over Purdue, covering a 5.5-point spread, while New Mexico State needed a second-half rally to get past Division II Western New Mexico.
The matchup on the glass is particularly concerning for the Aggies. Western New Mexico outrebounded them by nine in their opener, while Gonzaga controlled the boards against Purdue. KenPom, Bart Torvik, and Erik Haslam project a Gonzaga win by 19 to 24 points, but Clark is willing to go against those projections and back the Bulldogs at -29.5, with value up to -31.5.

Providence vs. Nebraska pick: Providence +2.5
- Time: 7 p.m. ET
- TV: FS1
- Analyst: JD Yonke
Top pick: Providence +2.5
JD Yonke is buying into Providence’s offseason rebuild under new head coach Bryan Hodgson, backing the Friars as a short underdog against Nebraska. Hodgson made significant additions through the transfer portal, with Malik Mack providing a strong lead guard and Miles Byrd bringing an impactful defensive presence. Yonke believes Providence can exceed its current KenPom ranking of 51st.
Nebraska is coming off a 28-7 season, but Yonke sees a team that may struggle to replace some of its departed production. Pryce Sandfort and Braden Frager provide scoring options, but the Cornhuskers could need time to find their offensive rhythm. Providence also showed defensive depth in its opener, with eight players recording a DBPR above 1.00. Yonke is backing the Friars at +2.5.

Maryland vs. Georgetown pick: Maryland moneyline
Top pick: Maryland moneyline
Chris Hatfield is backing Maryland to win, pointing to the Terrapins’ advantage in creating extra possessions. Pharrel Payne returns after missing most of last season, while Andre Mills gives Buzz Williams another physical rebounder who can contribute offensively without needing plays designed for him. Georgetown has interior size of its own in Vince Iwuchukwu, but Hatfield sees Maryland as the team with more ways to generate points.
Jaland Lowe gives the Hoyas a capable shot-maker who can keep the game competitive at home, particularly when Georgetown’s initial offensive actions break down. However, Maryland’s combination of size, rebounding, and scoring options gives the Terps the edge. Hatfield is backing Maryland to win at a probability of up to 62%, preferring the moneyline over laying points.
