World Boxing has been plunged into fresh controversy after Taiwan’s Lin Yu-Ting withdrew from the upcoming World Championships in Liverpool. The 29-year-old, who won bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and gold in Paris last summer, will now sit alongside Algeria’s Imane Khelif on the sidelines following a dispute over gender eligibility. According to Taiwan’s boxing association, Lin had already completed the required gender test and submitted the results to World Boxing. However, the governing body allegedly failed to respond, forcing officials to withdraw her from the tournament at the last minute. Taiwan Boxing Association statement “We cannot allow the…
It’s that time of year again. The dark days of terrible preseason games and bizarre personnel moves (Seriously. Jerry. What. The. What?) are over. So (sadly) is the excitement and enthusiasm of fantasy draft season. It’s go-time now—in just a couple of days, the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys will square off in the 2025 season opener. Another season of fantasy football will begin with it.And that means it’s time for my 37th year of Getting Defensive here at Rotoworld—approximately.Time flies when you’re having fun.Same as every year, the early editions of Getting Defensive come with a caveat. There’s a ton…

After four years with the Steelers, Najee Harris left Pittsburgh this offseason. The team did not give him a long-term contract. Instead, Harris signed a one-year, $5.25 million deal with the Chargers. On July 4, Chargers RB Najee Harris sustained an eye injury in a fireworks mishap. That forced the 27-year-old to miss all of training camp for Los Angeles. Recently, Harris was finally cleared as a full participant at practice. Speaking with the media on Monday, Najee Harris said that he expects to play on Friday in Brazil vs. the Chiefs. How much will Chargers RB Najee Harris play…
September’s arrival means, among other things, that Major League Baseball rosters have officially expanded. Every club can now dress up to 28 players, two more than is customary. While there’s no uniform strategy behind how teams use those additional slots — some simply activate injured players, others bring up depth pieces like third catchers and extra relievers — you can be forgiven if you find the most interesting employment to entail the promotion of prospects.Fortunately, this year’s crop of September callups includes some young players with exciting future prospects. Below, CBS Sports has highlighted five players in particular worth monitoring throughout…
From a fantasy football perspective, the season starts today. With Labor Day behind us most drafts are done, and it’s time to think about Week 1 lineups and finally pick up a defense. You didn’t draft a defense, did you? This article series is about streaming defenses, the practice of adding and dropping defenses frequently to play matchups, rather than sticking with the same one through thick and thin. This way of life is based on a few principles and findings: Fantasy defense scoring does a much worse job of reflecting real-world performance than for other positions. It really has…
The Saints have eight captains for 2025. None of them play the position that is most conducive to earning a “C”.Neither Spencer Rattler nor Tyler Shough received the captain designation. The captains are receiver Brandin Cooks, kicker Blake Grupe, safety Justin Reid, running back Alvin Kamara, long snapper Zach Wood, Demario Davis, center Erik McCoy, and defensive end Cam Jordan.Rattler is the starting quarterback, for now. Shough is the next man up — and he’ll likely be the next man in, at some point.Expectations are low for the 2025 Saints. In a recent appearance on Pardon My Take, I was cajoled…

SEE YOU IN STRASBOURGStrasbourg, official seat of the European parliament, the jewel of the Alsace region on the west bank of the Rhine. Important historically, geographically and politically. One of the city’s most famous sons, Arsène Wenger, as a boy, was so embedded that his first language was Low Alemannic German, not French. To use a word Wenger brought to the English football vernacular – footballistically – Strasbourg was never too much of a hub. The club reformed after liquidation as recently as 2011, having won just one French title back in 1979 when Wenger was a fringe player already…
