Will Levis Has Shoulder Surgery, Out for the 2025 Season; Ward Officially QB1 in Tennessee

    • The Tennessee Titans expected to have a quarterback competition between incumbent Will Levis and Cam Ward, the #1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
    • On July 21, it was announced that Levis would undergo shoulder surgery and miss all of the 2025-26 season.
    • Ward will now move up the depth chart, which could cause the Titans’ NFL betting odds to shift in various markets.

Will Levis of the Tennessee Titans will miss the entire 2025-26 NFL season due to shoulder surgery. Instead of a quarterback competition, #1 overall pick Cam Ward will likely begin the season as the starter.

This could have an effect on some of the Titans’ NFL betting markets heading into the season, so let’s deep deeper into what happened.

Levis and Ward Would Have Competed for the Starter’s Job

The news of Levis’ season-ending surgery was announced on Monday, July 21.

Levis was drafted with the 33rd pick out of Kentucky in the 2023 Draft, and the results haven’t been great. He started nine games in the 2023 season, completing 58.4% of his passes for 1,808 yards, eight touchdowns, and four interceptions.

He started the 2024 season as the number one quarterback and injured his shoulder in a Week 4 win over Miami. Levis finished the campaign by completing 63.1% of his attempts for 2,091 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. In 21 career games for the Titans, Levis has been sacked 69 times and has 21 touchdowns to 16 picks.

The shoulder Levis is getting surgery on is the same one he hurt against the Dolphins. But his job was in jeopardy anyway.

The Titans selected Cam Ward out of Miami with the #1 pick, and he had the inside track on the starter’s job. Ward went 10-3 with the Hurricanes, throwing for 4,313 yards on 67.2% of his passes, adding 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He finished fourth in the Heisman voting, while winning the Davey O’Brien and Manning Award trophies given to college quarterbacks.

How Will This Affect the Titans’ NFL Betting Odds?

You might see a marginal shift in the Titans’ odds at NFL betting sites, but not much. As good as Ward was in college, he is still a rookie quarterback in the league. There should be an adjustment period for the 23-year-old. However, some have high hopes for the signal caller.

The Titans also have additional refinements to target, outside of the quarterback position. The offensive line allowed 52 total sacks last season. Calvin Ridley is their best receiver, while Tyler Lockett is a veteran, but at 32, is past his prime. The defense ranked in the bottom third of the league against the run, and they were 30th in points allowed.

Therefore, don’t expect the Titans to surge up the Super Bowl 60 odds, where they are currently listed at +20000 at BetUS. Their current win total is set at 5.5, and they’re -600 to miss the playoffs. The Titans are also last in the AFC South odds.

Ward might be incredibly talented, but the Titans have a lot to do before becoming a force in the NFL.
