Today’s MLB DFS & Player Props Picks
Wednesday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Framber Valdez (SP – HOU) vs. COL
Framber Valdez is a front-of-the-line starter in front of his home crowd. According to FanGraphs, in 173.2 innings at home since last year, the veteran lefty has a 2.23 ERA, 2.81 xFIP, 1.07 WHIP, 7.6 BB%, 26.6 K% and 62.3 GB%. Valdez has a dreamy matchup and mouthwatering betting info.
The Rockies are tied for 26th in wRC+ (76) with a 23.9 K% versus lefties and 30th in wRC+ (68) with a 27.2 K% on the road in 2025. Colorado was also 25th in wRC+ (88) with a 21.3 K% in the previous 30 days. Thus, the Astros are listed as monstrous -308 favorites, and the game’s total is 8.0 runs.
Eric Lauer (SP – TOR) vs. MIN
Eric Lauer has pitched well this year, splitting time between Toronto’s bullpen (six relief appearances) and rotation (14 starts). He hasn’t padded his stats with his bullpen work, either. Instead, Lauer has had the following stats in his 14 starts spanning 69.1 innings this season.
- 3.25 ERA
- 4.12 xFIP
- 3.96 SIERA
- 1.20 WHIP
- Six wins
- Four quality starts
- 6.2 BB%
- 24.2 K%
- 27.2 CSW%
Lauer’s matchup is favorable tonight. The Twins are 19th in wRC+ (90) with a 23.1 K% versus lefties and tied for 23rd in wRC+ (91) with a 23.3 K% on the road this year. Moreover, Minnesota was tied for 27th in wRC+ (85) with a 22.2 K% in the previous 30 days, which shouldn’t be surprising since the Twins were sellers at the MLB trade deadline. Finally, the Blue Jays are listed as -190 favorites, and the game’s total is 9.0 runs.
Ryan Bergert (SP – KC) at CWS
The Royals traded for Ryan Bergert at the MLB trade deadline, and he’s thrived with his new organization, notably reducing his fastball usage, ramping up his slider usage, and even ticking up his changeup. The 25-year-old righty has the following stats in four starts spanning 22.1 innings for the Royals.
- 2.82 ERA
- 3.73 xFIP
- 3.73 SIERA
- 0.94 WHIP
- Zero wins
- Zero quality starts
- 6.9 BB%
- 25.3 K%
- 11.7 SwStr%
- 29.2 CSW%
- 90 stuff+
- 114 location+
- 106 pitching+
Unfortunately for Bergert, the White Sox were 11th in wRC+ (109) with a 19.2 K% in the previous 30 days. Nevertheless, Chicago is 28th in wRC+ (86) with a 22.0 K% versus righties and 27th in wRC+ (89) with a 20.6 K% at home this season. So, it’s unsurprising the Royals are listed as -130 favorites, and the game’s total is 8.5 runs.
Suggested Lineup Stacks
Casey Mize has been in shaky form, and Sutter Health Park isn’t the place to turn things around. In Mize’s previous five starts, he’s recorded a 4.74 ERA, 4.19 xFIP, 4.19 SIERA and 1.22 WHIP. Mize also coughed up 1.46 HR/9 in his past five starts. The Athletics can take advantage of their cushy hitting conditions at home and extend Mize’s recent woes for another start.
Tyler Anderson was initially listed as the starter, and I was excited to stack against him. Fortunately, their late switch to Jack Kochanowicz doesn’t diminish my enthusiasm for stacking the Rangers. The righty has a 7.24 ERA, 5.78 xFIP, 6.27 SIERA, 2.12 WHIP, 14.3 BB% and 8.6 K% in his previous three starts. The 24-year-old righty has yielded a .386 wOBA to 292 left-handed batters and a .341 wOBA to 196 right-handed batters this season.
Core Studs
- Nick Kurtz has hit 22 homers with a .448 OBP, .376 ISO, .487 wOBA and 216 wRC+ in 280 plate appearances against righties in his rookie season.
- Corey Seager has tallied a .398 OBP, .275 ISO, .407 wOBA and 167 wRC+ in 1,044 plate appearances against righties since 2023.
- Tyler Soderstrom has ripped 20 round-trippers with a .366 OBP, .229 ISO, .376 wOBA and 140 wRC+ in 423 plate appearances against righties this year.
Value Plays/Punts
- Mark Vientos is on a tear, launching six long-balls with 10 runs, 19 RBIs, a .333 OBP, .333 ISO, .402 wOBA and 165 wRC+ in his previous 78 plate appearances.
- Kyle Higashioka has hit six dingers with a .303 OBP, .168 ISO, .311 wOBA and 99 wRC+ in 175 plate appearances against righties this year. Using a roughly average hitter against righties at a punt salary against Kochanowicz is appealing on DraftKings.
- Joc Pederson has had a forgettable season. However, he has a track record of success against righties, and he’s rounded into good form. In Pederson’s previous 68 plate appearances, he’s swatted four homers with seven runs, seven RBIs, one stolen base, a .324 OBP, .230 ISO, .345 wOBA and 123 wRC+.

Wednesday’s Top 3 Underdog Player Props
Check out our best picks on the MLB Underdog Cheat Sheet
Corey Seager (SS, DH – TEX): 9.5 Fantasy Points – Higher
Seager’s numbers against righties noted above were nothing to sneeze at. Still, I sandbagged his dominance against righties at home. In 525 plate appearances against righties at home since 2023, Seager has hit 36 dingers with a .427 OBP, .323 ISO, .445 wOBA and 195 wRC+.
Nick Kurtz (1B – ATH): 9.5 Fantasy Points – Higher
Kurtz has posted absurd stats in his rookie campaign, crushing 27 homers with 67 runs, 70 RBIs, two stolen bases, a .398 OBP, .328 ISO, .432 wOBA, .388 xwOBA and 178 wRC+. Meanwhile, Mize has ceded a .326 wOBA to 127 left-handed batters on the road this year.
Tyler Soderstrom (1B, OF – ATH): 6.5 Fantasy Points – Higher
Soderstrom is dialed in. In his previous 104 plate appearances, he’s mashed four taters with 14 runs, 16 RBIs, one stolen base, a .423 OBP, .226 ISO, .427 wOBA and 175 wRC+.
