Washington Wizards big man Alex Sarr will miss the remainder of France’s games in EuroBasket 2025 because of a left calf injury.
Wizards officials expect Sarr will be ready to play by the time the Wizards open their regular season on Oct. 22, a team source said Tuesday afternoon. Sarr’s injury and absence from the rest of the tournament were announced Tuesday by French officials.

Sarr played a total of 39 minutes in France’s first two EuroBasket group-stage games, which were victories over Belgium and Slovenia. French officials said Sarr suffered the injury against Slovenia, and he sat out Sunday when France lost to Israel 82-69.
The Wizards typically have at least one member of their medical staff on hand when their players participate in international tournaments.
France is playing against Poland in Katowice Tuesday, and Sarr is watching that game from France’s bench, wearing street clothes.
Sarr, 20, is about to enter his second NBA season. The second pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Sarr averaged 13.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game as a rookie.
France’s team also includes the Wizards’ Bilal Coulibaly, a wing preparing to enter his third NBA season.
