Organisers of a boxing day swim in Guernsey are marking the event’s 25th year with a Doctor Who cameo.
This year, the Skipton Boxing Day Dip, which takes place at Cobo Bay, will feature an appearance from local actor Dean Hollingsworth dressed as a Karfelon Android to help raise money for charity.
Mr Hollingsworth played the character more than 40 years ago in the Doctor Who episode Timelash alongside the Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker.
Organisers said the appearance of Mr Hollingsworth as the blue-faced and yellow-haired android would “add a little humour” to the swim.

Organisers said: “Dean feels this would be an appropriate look for the Boxing Day swim, in fact as he has never swum in the sea later than September and as this is his first Boxing Day swim, he may not need to wear the blue make up.”
The Doctor Who actor is being supported by Guernsey Electricity, which has designated his swim as the last of the 125 good deeds being supported this year to mark its 125th anniversary.
As a result, Mr Hollingsworth has set himself a target to raise £1,250 for the Guernsey Cheshire Home, the charity being supported by the Boxing Day Dip.
Susan Fouquier, chief executive officer of Skipton International, said: “It’s an occasion that unites people of all ages, and we’re proud to play a part in raising vital funds for such an important cause.”
Organisers said more than £12,000 had been raised for the charity, which provides care, independence, and opportunities for people with serious physical disabilities, at last year’s Boxing Day Dip.
Rob Shepherd, chairman of the Guernsey Cheshire Home said he was “thrilled” by the continued support.
“The money raised will make a lasting impact, helping us maintain the vital care we provide,” he added.
