The New York Giants are hiring Mike Bloomgren as their offensive line coach, per Bob Brookover of NJ Advance Media.
Bloomgren was offensive line coach for the Cleveland Browns under Kevin Stefanski.
Giants fans hoping for Jeff Stoutland, who recently stepped down as offensive line coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, will be disappointed. The other name that had been prominently mentioned as a possibility was Juan Castillo, a long-time offensive line coach now at Syracuse.

John Harbaugh, though, has selected the 49-year-old Bloomgren.
Last season was Bloomgren’s first as an NFL offensive line coach. Cleveland’s line ranked 31st in the NFL, per Pro Football Focus.
Jared Mueller of SB Nation’s Dawgs by Nature, which covers the Browns, said Bloomgren did not have much of a chance in Cleveland.
“Our line stunk but it was old and injured,” Mueller said. “He comes from the [Bill] Callahan tree but our line wasn’t big enough to run power plays and wasn’t fast enough to run outside zone stuff.”
Bill Callahan, of course, has a reputation as one of the best offensive line coaches in the NFL Bloomgren worked under Callahan as an offensive quality control coach and then an offensive assistant with the New York Jets from 2007-2010.

That time with the Jets was Bloomgren’s only NFL experience before working with the Browns last season.
Bloomgren coached the offensive line at Stanford from 2011-2017, and doubled as offensive coordinator there beginning in 2012. He was head coach at Rice from 2018-2024, compiling a 24-52 record.
