The UFC is in Newark, New Jersey, on Saturday for a solid UFC 328 card that sees two title fights on the line, and in the co-main event, Joshua Van defends his flyweight title against Tatsuro Taira. Heading into the fight, Van is a +142 underdog while the challenger is a -186 favorite on FanDuel.
Ahead of the bout at UFC 328, BJPENN.com reached out to several pro fighters to get their predictions for the flyweight title fight. The pros believe Van will pull off the upset and retain his flyweight title.
BJPENN.com Fighter Picks Joshua Van vs. Tatsuro Taira:
Kyle Nelson, UFC lightweight: I think Van. He’s young and is super well-rounded and should be able to beat Taira.
Adrian Yanez, UFC bantamweight: It’s Joshua Van all day, every day.
Chase Hooper, UFC lightweight: Joshua Van is a great striker, but I think Taira’s grappling will be able to get it done.
Vince Morales, UFC bantamweight: It’s a good fight. I do think Taira gets the win. I thought Taira before it got moved because of Van’s injury, and like him even more now.
John Castaneda, UFC bantamweight: Joshua Van had that injury, which postponed the fight, which is kind of interesting, as I don’t know how serious it is. But, I like Van to get the win, keep it standing, and edge out a decision win.
Colby Thicknesse, UFC bantamweight: I think Van finishes him on the feet within the first three rounds.
Modestas Bukauskas, UFC light heavyweight: This is a good matchup. Van being injured and postponing it makes it a big tougher, but I do think Van will be able to keep it standing and win the fight with his striking.
