Liverpool Star can Break 12-Year Record Against Newcastle United

Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike Targets Milestone Moment Against Newcastle United

When Liverpool step out at St James’ Park on Monday night they will be greeted by one of the most intense atmospheres in the Premier League. Newcastle United supporters rarely need encouragement to turn their stadium into a cauldron, and Liverpool will know they must quieten the crowd early if they are to return home with three crucial points.

For Arne Slot, who lifted the Premier League title in his debut campaign as Liverpool manager, much rests on Hugo Ekitike continuing his blistering start in red. The French forward has scored in each of his first two competitive outings and now stands on the brink of equalling a record that has stood untouched for more than a decade.

    Ekitike’s Newcastle United Connection

This fixture carries an extra layer of intrigue. Before Liverpool swooped for Ekitike, Newcastle United were heavily linked with a move for the striker. In the north east, there are those who still suggest that had the 23-year-old chosen Tyneside, the Reds might instead have moved for Alexander Isak. That subplot adds further spotlight to a match that was already rich with narrative.

Now, as Ekitike prepares to line up against the club he could have joined, he has the chance to make history. According to Liverpoolfc.com, no player has scored in his first three matches for Liverpool since Daniel Sturridge achieved the feat back in 2013.

    From Frankfurt to Anfield Impact

Ekitike arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt with plenty to prove and has wasted little time showing his quality. A sharp finish in the Community Shield against Crystal Palace was followed by another in Liverpool’s league opener. His composure and movement have offered early signs that he can be the long-term focal point of Slot’s attack.

Supporters can already sense that this is a forward who thrives on big occasions, and Monday’s clash at St James’ Park would be the perfect stage for him to reinforce that impression. Should he score again, not only would he write his name alongside Sturridge, but he would do so in one of the most demanding fixtures of Liverpool’s campaign.

    Remembering Sturridge’s Start

Daniel Sturridge’s early months at Liverpool set a benchmark for any new striker. Joining from Chelsea at the age of 23, he scored within minutes of his debut in the FA Cup against Mansfield Town. He followed up with goals at Old Trafford and then Anfield, becoming the first player since Ray Kennedy in 1974 to net in each of his first three matches for the club.

Injuries ultimately prevented Sturridge from sustaining his brilliance, but his clinical finishing deserves to be remembered. Ekitike now has the opportunity to match that achievement, and in doing so, establish himself as a forward capable of defining Liverpool’s new era under Slot.

As the spotlight turns to Tyneside, the equation is simple. Liverpool need a big performance, Newcastle United will look to harness their home crowd, and Hugo Ekitike has a chance to step into history.
