Arman Tsarukyan has confirmed that Shara Magomedov felt every bit of the two weight classes and 30lb heavier when they grappled last night – but he’s still up for the rematch.
The top lightweight contender gave up a monstrous amount of weight to fan favorite middleweight Shara ‘Bullet’ in their Hype FC main event last night. However, you would never have guessed as he manhandled the much bigger Dagestani and even slammed him before the bout ended in a draw.
Tsarukyan is far from the biggest lightweight out there, and recently showed off his after camp physique and weight. Even weeks out from competition and eating well away from camp, he only tipped the scales at 173.5lb in a recent video.

Arman Tsarukyan details how size difference affected Shara Magomedov match
Heading into their clash at Hype FC in Armenia, both men were billed at 84.5kg, which is just over 186lb. This seems unlikely, however, as Arman Tsarukyan looked tiny as they initially faced off before arguably getting the better of Shara Magomedov who is better known as a striker.
Would you like to see a rematch between Arman Tsarukyan and Shara Magomedov
After a draw in their grappling match, how about an MMA fight between Tsarukyan and Shara Bullet? Do you want to see it?
He noted that at one point as he got Magomedov up they almost stumbled due to the massive gulf in size, although he still believes he did enough for a win. Speaking with Red Corner MMA he explained: “Of course you can feel the size difference.
“The first time I tried to throw him he fell over me because it felt a bit unusual. But guys my weight? I throw them with ease. When he fell on top of me I had to make adjustments.”
Arman Tsarukyan teases Shara Magomedov rematch after Hype FC draw
The general consensus with fans after the fact was that lightweight contender Tsarukyan had done enough to beat the much bigger Magomedov. When it was ruled a draw, many called the bout a fix and demanded a second go.
Red Corner asked if perhaps they could compete under a different ruleset – teasing maybe an MMA bout between the pair. The pair’s pre-fight press conference was a viral hit, and Tsarukyan seemed to like the idea.
“Yes. Why not?” He replied. “It’s good hype and people enjoy it. There’s been a lot of media as if it was a UFC fight.”
