We’re getting into the thick of fantasy football draft prep, so we’re going to name my Never Again Team. These are frustrating players who I’m not going to draft, at least for this season.
I’ll go through each position as if it were a starting lineup for your fantasy teams. Without further ado, let’s dive into my Never Again Team for the 2026 NFL season.
Fantasy Football Never Again Team
I wouldn’t go as far as to say I’d never draft these players again, but they’d have to fall significantly past average draft position (ADP) to be considered.
Jaxson Dart (QB – NYG) | ADP: 90 (QB7)
Jaxson Dart showed a lot of potential as a rookie. He’s a dual-threat quarterback who plays a fantasy-friendly game. But my issue here is that he plays so recklessly. Dart is one of the biggest injury risks you can find at the quarterback position.
There’s nothing worse than when your quarterback leaves a game early, essentially losing your matchup. It’s hard to recover from an absolute dud at that position. Add in the fact that Malik Nabers is recovering from a significant knee injury, and you can see why Dart is a pass.
Christian McCaffrey (RB – SF) | ADP: 6 (RB3)
Christian McCaffrey is coming off a monster season for the 49ers. But he is entering his age-30 season with a lengthy injury history, fresh off a year with 400+ touches.
Taking McCaffrey at ADP feels like a recipe for disaster. I don’t think you’re getting a full season out of him this time around. Simply put, the opportunity cost is too high. It’s hard to trust a veteran running back off such a crazy workload.
Jaylen Warren (RB – PIT) | ADP: 71 (RB27)
Jaylen Warren is a good player, but the Steelers brought in Mike McCarthy and signed Rico Dowdle. Remember that Dowdle was the Cowboys’ running back when McCarthy was head coach.
It’s clear McCarthy brought in someone he trusts. Despite that, Dowdle is being drafted after Warren, which feels like a mistake. You can wait a few picks and take Dowdle if investing in the Steelers’ backfield.
Rashee Rice (WR – KC) | ADP: 27 (WR11)
Rashee Rice continues to have run-ins with the law, even spending some time in jail during the offseason. He’s also coming off offseason knee surgery. Last season, Xavier Worthy played through a torn labrum, which impacted his play. This forced the Chiefs to rely on Rice a bit more. That won’t be the case with a healthy Worthy.
We’re not saying that Rice isn’t the Chiefs’ No. 1 WR, but with his off-field issues and more target competition in an offense that will run more with Kenneth Walker III, I’m out.
Jameson Williams (WR – DET) | ADP: 51 (WR25)
Jameson Williams is one of the most volatile wideouts in fantasy. Think back to the beginning of last season, when he gave you dud after dud, making you consider benching him, only to watch him go off in the one time you didn’t start him.
Do you really want that headache? Especially with Drew Petzing as the new offensive coordinator. The former Cardinals’ play-caller couldn’t figure out how to properly use Marvin Harrison Jr.
DJ Moore (WR – BUF) | ADP: 56 (WR26)
DJ Moore is a declining wideout who has been bumped up in value because he’s Josh Allen‘s new No. 1 WR. But Moore has always been overrated in fantasy, with only one finish inside the top 28 in points per game in the last five seasons.
Joining the Bills means being part of an offense that likes to run the ball and spread it around in the passing game. This feels like Amari Cooper 2.0.
Sam LaPorta (TE – DET) | ADP: 81 (TE8)
Sam LaPorta has dealt with injuries in the last two seasons, to the point where I don’t want to target him this season. His rookie year breakout feels like ages ago. Yes, Drew Petzing likes to involve his tight ends, but it’s better to pay up for Brock Bowers or Colston Loveland. If I wait on tight end, I’m riding with Tucker Kraft. Simply put, I don’t trust LaPorta this season.
