Eddie Hall has continued expanding his arsenal of combat sports as he took on close friend and fellow strongman Brian Shaw in sumo wrestling.
Former World’s Strongest Man winner Hall is known for taking on various sports for challenges on his YouTube channel, and has competed in both MMA and boxing. Just this April, the Brit viciously knocked out the legendary five-time World’s Strongest Man winner Mariusz Pudzianowski in his KSW debut.
In his latest post, Hall decided to take on sumo wrestling while his pal Shaw was in town for a visit. The pair headed to a gym in Derby to train for the sport, taking on a number of large men to warm up for an eventual clash between the strongmen.
Eddie Hall and Brian Shaw have razor-close sumo wrestling match
As part of his newest YouTube video, Eddie Hall took on his fellow former World’s Strongest Man Brian Shaw in a sumo wrestling match. The pair weigh a collective 760lb, with gigantic strongman Shaw tipping the scales over 420lb and even a newly-trimmed down Hall coming in at 334lb for his first MMA fight.
Hall and Shaw both got a chance to learn some skills from coach Steve Pateman of the British Sumo Federation. They then each got in the ring with some veterans from the gym, before eventually locking up with one another.
The pair were at a stalemate for about a minute and a half as Hall, wearing Shaw’s face on his extra-small shorts, pushed the pressure. Eventually, with Shaw against the line, the MMA fighter went for an explosive hip toss which saw them both exit the ring at almost the same time.
The decision was put up to the gym’s members, who voted almost unanimously that Hall had done enough for the victory. “Everyone’s a judge, jury and executioner in this room,” the Brit joked, before Shaw noted how sweaty his rival was.
Eddie Hall is currently on the lookout for a new MMA opponent
Since his massive win over Mariusz Pudzianowski back in April, there have been a number of potential opponents for his next fight. He blasted out the Polish powerhouse within seconds, albeit under slightly altered rules around the length of rounds, so a rematch has been touted.

He has also entertained the possibility of an openweight clash with jiu-jitsu ace Dillon Danis, who weighs in over 150lb lighter than the strongman, but has elite grappling skills. He also called for a fight with both Logan and Jake Paul in the one night.
However, it is unclear when exactly Hall will get back in the cage, if at all. He talked about a potentially late-year return, but appears to be enjoying taking in other sports and generally making content as opposed to being in an intensive fight camp.
