Jorge Masvidal unleashes on Chael Sonnen after Hall of Famer accuses him of ‘lying’ about planned UFC return

Jorge Masvidal and Chael Sonnen have reignited their long-standing feud over the former BMF champ’s planned comeback.

It’s been more than three years since Jorge Masvidal announced his retirement from Mixed Martial Arts following a loss at UFC 287. After a legendary career that included his BMF title win over Nate Diaz, Masvidal turned his attention towards fight promotion.

But Masvidal envisions a return to the Octagon later this year, and was briefly linked to a potential return at the White House. UFC CEO Dana White recently confirmed that Masvidal and his team are in active talks to book the legend’s return to the promotion.

After Masvidal initially teased a fight with Conor McGregor at UFC Freedom 250, he wasn’t selected for the unprecedented card, despite his close relationship with U.S. President Donald Trump. One of Masvidal’s longtime critics, UFC Hall of Famer Chael Sonnen, has questions for the inaugural BMF champ.

Chael Sonnen questioned Jorge Masvidal’s past flip-flop on fighting at the White House

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Sonnen weighed in on Masvidal’s recent remarks about his planned Octagon return.

“I have no problem with Masvidal lying, trying to get headlines. As a matter of fact, I support it,” Sonnen said of Masvidal.

“You don’t want to contradict your own lie; that’s where the problem comes. If you’re lying to get headlines, you’re not a liar, you’re a performer, and you’re entertaining…but you have to keep track of your story. Masvidal has been workshopping a story that ‘I’m back in the pool, under contract, fighting in the UFC, and got something massive coming up’. Flirted and danced, he was at the White House…it’s a work, there’s no truth to it, and Masvidal is out of the UFC.

“But for the story to come out, there’s nobody that can contest his story,” Sonnen continued. “I wasn’t going to bust his gimmick, run with it! Now, he’s come out with the truth, and it contradicts the lies.”

Jorge Masvidal slams ‘lesbian’ Chael Sonnen after accusing him of fabricating return

It didn’t take long for Masvidal to take notice of Sonnen’s remarks.

In a recent episode of his Death Row MMA podcast, Masvidal responded to Sonnen.

“For starters, this m********** has some nerve. He’s transitioning into a woman and he’s talking s*** to me? You lesbian a** m*********, and no disrespect to the lesbians, this m*********** needs to chill,” Masvidal said of Sonnen. “Because now that he’s a lesbian, he thinks I can’t slap him? I’ll still slap the s*** out of you, Chael, you lesbian in transition. Look at them f***** t*** and glasses he’s wearing, he looks like one of my f***** aunts.

“I can’t take this guy seriously. The only serious thing this guy did was fighting Anderson Silva, lost, got triangle tapped, and he was on seven different PEDs. Dude, you can’t talk to me. I’ve never had a positive exam for steroids in my life, shut the f*** up, Chael, you’re talking to a real fighter.

“I never said I’m ‘officially’ fighting at the White House, you f****** lying piece of s***. There was a lot of interest in that fight, at first, and there was a big chance I’d be on that card,” Masvidal continued. “They asked me for a few things, and then the date changed…not contradicting anything, it’s called ‘Rolling with the punches’. Now, the UFC has offered me something else…every time he mentions my name, his 17 fans tune in.”

Masvidal went on to challenge Sonnen to a bare-knuckle fight in his promotion. As of this writing, Sonnen has yet to respond to Masvidal’s offer.
