Monday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Cristopher Sanchez (SP – PHI) at CWS
Cristopher Sanchez is on a heater in a season he’s built on a breakout 2024 campaign. According to FanGraphs, Sanchez has had the following stats in the lefty’s previous four starts spanning 30.1 innings.
- 1.19 ERA
- 2.03 xFIP
- 2.06 SIERA
- 0.86 WHIP
- Three wins
- Four quality starts
- One complete game
- 3.5 BB%
- 27.2 K%
- 71.4 GB%
- 13.9 SwStr%
- 35.3 CSW%
- 118 stuff+
- 104 location+
- 126 pitching+
Sanchez has a favorable matchup and sweet betting info tonight. The White Sox are tied for 12th in wRC+ (97) with a 25.5 K% versus lefties and tied for 28th in wRC+ (83) with a 21.6 K% at home in 2025. Thus, the Phillies are -220, and the game’s total is 8.5 runs.
Matthew Boyd (SP – CHC) at MIL
Sanchez isn’t the only lefty on a heater. Matthew Boyd has tied up offenses in his last four starts, totaling 27 innings. He spun a blistering 0.67 ERA with a 2.88 xFIP, 2.99 SIERA, 0.70 WHIP, 3.1 BB% and 26.8 K%. Boyd earned wins in each of those starts, and each was a quality start. Moreover, he had a 12.5 SwStr%, 29.7 CSW%, 95 stuff+, 116 location+ and 107 pitching+.
Boyd has a decent matchup and adequate betting info. The Brewers are 10th in wRC+ (100) with a 21.0 K% versus lefties and 23rd in wRC+ (92) with a 21.7 K% at home this year. So, the Cubs are -110, and the game’s total is a pitcher-friendly 7.5 runs.
Chase Burns (SP – CIN) vs. LAD
The Red Sox lit up Chase Burns for five earned runs in 0.1 innings in the rookie’s second start in the Majors. Burns coughed up five earned runs in 5.2 innings in his last start, but offset the earned runs with 10 strikeouts. Burns has a 4.64 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 38.5 K% in 21.1 innings in his four non-Red Sox starts. It’s not a pristine profile, but Burns’ elite strikeout ability awards him with a high DFS ceiling tonight.
The matchup against the Dodgers gives him a low floor and high ceiling, too. Los Angeles is fourth in wRC+ (117) with a 21.7 K% versus righties this season. Yet, they’re tied for ninth in wRC+ (100) with a 24.2 K% on the road. Finally, the Dodgers are 27th in wRC+ (88) with a 24.9 K% in the previous 30 days. So, Burns could reach his ceiling tonight if Los Angeles remains in its funk.
Suggested Lineup Stacks
JP Sears has been unable to solve the riddle of navigating his hitter-friendly home ballpark. In 43.1 innings at home this year, Sears has a 5.61 ERA, 5.86 xFIP and 1.36 WHIP, coughing up an eye-popping 2.70 HR/9. Additionally, the Athletics’ relievers have the second-highest ERA this season. The Mariners should pile up DFS points tonight.
Rich Hill had a 5.22 ERA and 4.60 xFIP in 11 starts in Triple-A this year, and his first start for the Majors was a complete fluke. The 45-year-old lefty allowed only three runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks with one strikeout in five innings. The Braves have a mouthwatering matchup tonight against Hill, and they should take advantage of it.
