There aren’t too many things that Demetrious Johnson wishes he could have done differently.
On Saturday night, Joe Pyfer’s win over Israel Adesanya capped off a strong event at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington.
The promotion’s return to this area gave them the opportunity to announce that one of the greatest of all time would be entering the Hall of Fame later this year while he was in attendance.
Johnson retired in 2024 following a truly remarkable career, though there’s one thing he would want to go back and change if he could.

Demetrious Johnson wishes he had documented his career so he could watch the footage back
Demetrious Johnson maintaining that he’s never coming back to MMA is just one reason why he was an obvious pick for the UFC Hall of Fame.
The highlight video during the broadcast on Saturday night showed clips from his historic flyweight title reign, where he produced the most successful consecutive defenses of any champion.
When sharing his reaction to the announcement, Johnson highlighted that he took a lot of enjoyment from watching this footage back because he didn’t document his career the way he would now.
“I loved to see the video,” he said in a backstage UFC interview. That’s one thing I regret about my career is not documenting it all, like the training sessions, the leadup to the fights, after the fights.
“I never got the opportunity to do that and for me to be able to see a piece of it, because I was a part of the UFC from 2010 from WEC all the way to 2018 so that’s a lot of footage… I just wish I would have done that and [to] be able to see it and show my daughter and my kids, it was awesome.”
The positive note is that even before he takes his place in the Hall of Fame, Johnson’s incredible UFC career isn’t going anywhere and fans can still watch it back.

Demetrious Johnson says his consistency stands out as his biggest accomplishment
Demetrious Johnson doesn’t have the super fights or classic rivalries that some of his fellow legends have on their resume.
He makes up for that with the eleven consecutive title defenses where ‘Mighty Mouse’ made a strong argument for being the best mixed martial artist in UFC history.
During his interview with the UFC, he said that it’s his ability to constantly maintain that level that stands out to him as his biggest accomplishment over any fights in particular.
“They say it’s easy to become a champion, it’s even harder to stay a champion… To be consistent every single night when I would compete is probably one thing I hold close to my heart.”
