Oscar De La Hoya has launched another scathing attack on Dana White after the UFC boss unveiled the undercard for Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford in Las Vegas.
The September 13 event at Allegiant Stadium, promoted under White’s new venture Zuffa Boxing, was supposed to be a blockbuster rollout. Instead, White left fans baffled after admitting he didn’t know some of the fighters as he struggled to pronounce their names.
De La Hoya wasted no time in producing a new social media video to tear into his long-time rival.
“Dana White announces Canelo vs Crawford undercard as ‘The Greatest Club Show on Earth’ as experts scour the internet to positively identify never-before-seen fighters.
“The biggest collection of nobody’s favorite fighters to appear together in the biggest arena for one night only,” read the ticker to De La Hoya’s latest clapback.
De La Hoya then mocked White’s awkward delivery and hammered him for looking clueless while presenting what is supposed to be the co-feature support for the year’s biggest fight.
He added, “My friend Dana White announced the undercard for Canelo vs Crawford, and here is how it sounded to those listening.
“Dana, 1) you need to learn your boxers’ names, 2) yelling it louder doesn’t make us care more, and 3) please get your blood pressure checked,” said De La Hoya.
WBN’s View
World Boxing News has to admit it was excruciating to watch. White looked like he was winging his way through a card that should have been carefully packaged for one of boxing’s most significant nights in history.
That being said, Dana White is a boxing fan, and he will have to hit the ground running to convince die-hard boxing followers that his intentions are genuine.
But with the sums of money involved in Canelo vs Crawford, does Dana White really care if fans think the undercard stinks?
You bet he doesn’t.
