Kelly Holcomb. Charlie Frye. Derek Anderson. DeShone Kizer. Cody Kessler. Those are just a few of the quarterbacks who have started under center for the Cleveland Browns this century. Now, Shedeur Sanders joins the list.
Sanders, the rookie out of Colorado and the son of Deion Sanders, will make his first NFL start Sunday when the Browns take on the Raiders in Las Vegas. If the Raiders weren’t the opponent, this might have a throwing-a-lamb-to-the-lions feel, especially given how Sanders did against Baltimore.
Coming on for injured starter (and fellow rookie) Dillon Gabriel, Sanders completed four of 16 pass attempts for 47 yards. He threw one interception and was sacked twice, and his passer rating was 13.5.
Add that to Cleveland’s spotty quarterback history — included in this week’s quiz — and you have to feel a little nervous for the guy.
So wish Mr. Sanders luck as you dive into the quiz, and make sure you check out our daily Connections: Sports Edition, too.
