Every week the First Look article gives you a taste of the slate and some of the more intriguing salaries that DraftKings releases. The goal is to identify early-week cash game considerations, as well as potential tournament plays before we piece together the stacking options. Overview
Here is the schedule for the conference championship games including implied team totals (TIP) for each matchup.
I’ve also added a glossary of metrics at the bottom if you want a quick refresher or definition of some of the statistics used below.
Quarterbacks
With only four QBs to choose this weekend, the pricing seems incredibly cheap across the board. The two MVP candidates obviously profile as
Points per $ Cash Guys: Sam Darnold sports the highest implied total on the slate at a reasonable price. Over the last two seasons combined, he is tied for 5th in passing TDs (60!), tied for 2nd in yards per pass attempt (8.2), and 3rd in total passing yards behind only Goff and Stafford.
GPP Intrigue: Matthew Stafford led all QBs in passing yards, passing TDs, TD rate (7.7%), and passing 1st downs. In two starts against the Seahawks this year, he had one middling game (Week 11) and a monster fantasy performance (457 & 3) in Week 16…. The Broncos defense might strike some fear into your heart but as a 5.5-point road favorite, the upside it still clear for Drake Maye. Through 28 full games in his career, he is averaging 31 rushing yards per game as the only real threat with his legs among the QBs on this slate.
Cheapies: What does a $4.5K Jarrett Stidham have to do to payoff? If Stafford or Maye don’t end up hitting 20+ DK points, then Stiddy going for 14+ surely could get you there this week. We don’t have a ton to go off but for DFS purposes, he probably is mis-priced and undervalued.
