Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland believes there’s a line that even he won’t cross, and Josh Hokit successfully crossed it.
Sean Strickland and UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev were the stars of UFC 328 fight week after trading barbs for months. The two UFC 328 headliners were at the center of one of the wildest press conferences in Mixed Martial Arts history, with dozens of law enforcement officers on hand to keep Chimaev and Strickland separated.
Friday’s ceremonial weigh-in faceoff was more of the same between Chimaev and Strickland, as the two sides threw verbal jabs at each other one final time before fight night. Just before the UFC 328 ceremonial weigh-in, tensions skyrocketed at the first pre-fight press conference for UFC Freedom 250 next month.
Heavyweight Josh Hokit got into it with Derrick Lewis, UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria, and Alex Pereira during a wild presser. Topuria tried to attack Hokit at one point after the controversial heavyweight brought up some of Topuria’s recent personal issues outside of the Octagon.
Like Hokit, Strickland is never afraid to push the envelope on behalf of fight promo, but even some of the brashest athletes have a line they won’t cross.
‘Coming from me’…Sean Strickland’s surprising reaction to Josh Hokit presser
In a recent tweet, Strickland shared a surprising reaction to Hokit’s viral moments at the UFC Freedom 250 press conference.
“This is wild coming from me but Josh goes way too far,” Strickland said of Hokit.
“Chandler’s wife, Ilia Topuria’s ex…I know it’s the WWE thing but it’s too much.”
Earlier this week, Strickland scolded Hokit’s antics as a ‘WWE skit’, to which the heavyweight responded by challenging the former middleweight titleholder to a fight. As of this writing, Hokit hasn’t responded to Strickland’s critical tweet.
