Jake Paul shares his immediate reaction to Ronda Rousey facing Gina Carano in MVP’s MMA debut
On May 16, Ronda Rousey will face Gina Carano when the two MMA legends come out of retirement to face each other for the first time at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
There were rumors last year surrounding this matchup, along with talks of ‘Rowdy’ potentially coming back for a boxing match.
The fighters headlining the card in a five-round bout aren’t the only ones that this will be a huge occasion for, with Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions bringing MMA to Netflix for the very first time.
This announcement is a huge statement of intent from the promotion, and given the attention that this matchup alone will generate, it wouldn’t be surprising to see MVP attract some more marquee names.
Paul’s first post on social media following the announcement suggests that being a part of Rousey’s return in particular is something that means a lot to him.
“Surreal moment,” he wrote on X. “I started taking judo because of Ronda Rousey. Now I get to work with her and Gina Carano to bring MMA to Netflix. Here we go…”

Jake Paul will likely be very happy about the fact that Ronda Rousey is coming back to fight on his promotion rather than returning to the UFC.
On top of that, he’ll be involved in a matchup that was considered a dream clash for ‘Rowdy’ and nearly happened inside the Octagon.
Gina Carano has previously said why she didn’t fight Rousey after having positive conversations with Dana White about her coming back for this fight.
A breakdown in communication happened when White spoke about Carano returning publicly when she’d asked him to not do this so that she’d have time to properly put a team together without being pressured.
